How does GPS Camera work?
Open the app in your phone browser and tap “Take photo” — the camera opens. Take a shot, then choose what to stamp: GPS coordinates, the date, a pin, or a text note. Tap “Save” — keep the link public, or make it expire on a timer or open only once. “Link” copies the link, “Share” sends the shot itself.
Can I make a link expire or open only once?
Yes. When you save, you can give the link a lifetime — after that it stops working and the photo is removed. Or make it a one-time link: it opens the photo once, then it's gone. Both are optional; by default a link is public and stays up while the photo is hosted.
Is my photo private?
To create a link, the photo is uploaded to our host and sits at a public URL until it expires or is viewed. It is not end-to-end encrypted — anyone with a live link can open it. Treat the link as the secret and send it only to the people you mean to. Expiring and one-time links let you limit how long that window stays open.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free. No sign-up, no subscriptions, no limits. Your photo is hosted and you get a link — all for zero.
Does it work offline?
Yes, if you add the app to your home screen. Then it launches and shoots without a connection — photos are kept on your phone. A link to a photo can only be created while you are online.
How do I save a photo to my phone's gallery?
Tap “Share” under the shot and choose “Save to Photos” (iPhone) or “Download” (Android). Or open the photo in the app gallery and press and hold it — a save option appears. Shots are saved at full resolution.
Do I need to install the app?
Installing is optional — GPS Camera runs right in your phone browser. But if you add it to your home screen, it launches like a regular app and works without a connection.
Which phones does it work on?
Any smartphone with a modern browser — iPhone (Safari), Android (Chrome). GPS coordinates are detected automatically through the browser.
How long is the photo kept at the link?
A public photo is usually kept for up to a year, and under heavy load it may be less. If you set the link to expire or to open only once, it's removed as soon as that limit is reached. While it is stored, the link works.
How accurate are the GPS coordinates?
Accuracy depends on your phone's GPS — usually 3 to 10 metres in the open. Indoors it can drop.
How do I add a note to a photo?
After shooting, tap the “Note” button. A field opens where you can type up to 200 characters. The text appears on the shot as a watermark.
Can I remove the GPS coordinates from a photo?
Yes. GPS coordinates and date are separate toggles, off by default. Turn on only what you need: GPS, date, pin, or note.
